What is Orange Wine?

Orange Wine is a white wine made as a red wine.

Both Orange and Red Wine sit long on their skins and grapeseeds during fermentation.

This long contact is called maceration time. It can last weeks or months.

More time means more color pigments and more tannins.

Tannins give wine a long life and so does aging in oak.

Orange wine is often oak aged.

Orange Wine style is 8000 years old (the oldest white wine style) and was created in Georgia.

This style slows the oxidation and allows to produce a natural wine with minimal intervention: no added sugars, yeasts, stabilizers or sulfur.

What does Orange Wine taste?

The taste depends on how long the contact is.

Short contact: mild taste just like a white wine.

Long contact: tannic, astringent.
