About Edam

Edam is a semi-hard Cow Cheese from Edam in North Holland.

Edam is traditionally sold in round cylinders, yellow inside and with a rind of red paraffin wax outside.

Edam has been one of the world's most popular cheeses for many centuries.

Edam vs. Gouda

Gouda and Edam are both Dutch cheeses made from cow milk.

Edam is made from part-skimmed milk, while Gouda is made from whole milk.

Edam has about 40% fat content, while Gouda has about 50%.

Generally Edam is lighter and dryer than Gouda.
