Pierre Gaillard

Here I am having dinner with a living legend: Monsieur Pierre Gaillard.

Domaine Pierre Gaillard is located in Côte-Rôtie in Côtes du Rhône North.

Côte-Rôtie in english means "the roasted slope" because of the long hours of sun exposure.

The main grapes are Syrah (red) and Viognier (white) often blended together!

Pierre Gaillard helped plant the first vines used in the famous wine of La Turque for Guigal.

He started in 1986 with only 0.25 hectares of vines, today he owns 25 hectares vines in Northern Rhône and manages in total 77 hectares.

Norwegian Fiskesuppe

Winery

We start with Norwegian fish soup (fiskesuppe).

This is a creamy soup with North Atlantic fish and local veggies.

Condrieu 2018 is a real pleasure to drink with its ripe peach and apricot notes.

The wines are matured and stirred on lees for the entire period. As a result the Viognier fully develops its complex tropical fruit and floral aromas: litchi, white peach and violets.

Condrieu is a french appellation AOC for still white wines made from 100% Viognier grapes.

Chicken from Jæren

Winery

Jæren in Southern Norway is known for its agriculture tradition dating back to the Viking Age.

This delicious chicken with autumn veggies goes perfectly with a young Crozes- Hermitage.

The boys at the table preferred Saint-Joseph and its tannins.

Both wines are made with 100% Syrah

Michelin Star Chef

Vineyard

Michelin Star Chef Sven Erik Renaa shows proudly his caramelized deer stew before serving.

Bravo Sven Erik, you created a warm atmosphere for your french guest.

Venison and Côte-Rôtie

Winery

Mouth watering, full-bodied, dark fruit bomb juices! Perfect to venison!

Rose Pourpre derives from the parcel of Côte Rozier on the slopes of Ampuis, located in an amphitheater facing south. 100% Syrah.

Côte-Rôtie is a blend of Syrah (90%) and Viognier (10%). Some of the parcels are situated on brown schist rich in iron oxide, others are on blond schist composed of alluvium and loess.

The many dried stone walls hold the warmth and impact the micro-climate.

Fleurs d`Automne

Winery

Sweet wine made with 100% Viognier grapes kissed by the autumn sun and full of noble rot (fungus Botrytis).

Both healthy and over riped grapes are combined, resulting in floral, fruity and botrytized aromas.

The acidity balances the strong sugar concentration.
